Finance Minister Demanded Strict Control Over CSR Funds in Jharkhand
Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore has urged strict Government control over the use of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds in Jharkhand. He wrote to the Chief Secretary, mentioned that all CSR spending should require Chief Minister’s approval to prevent misuse and ensure funds benefit real developmental objectives like education, women empowerment, and environment protection.
Jharkhand will Finalize New Land Allotment Policy
Jharkhand is set to introduce a new Land Allotment Policy to attract industrial investment, streamline application and allocation procedures, and provide incentives for units in backward areas. A Directorate for MSMEs will also be formed, with an aim to promote small businesses, ease procedures, and generate employment.
Key Anti-Corruption Official Kapil Raj Resigned
Kapil Raj, Additional Commissioner of Customs and Indirect Taxes, has resigned, with the Finance Ministry accepting his resignation on 17th July. During his eight-year tenure in the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Raj uncovered major scams in Jharkhand, including the MNREGA, illegal mining, and tender frauds, leading to the arrest of two IAS officers and a minister.
Government Extended NTPC CMD Gurdeep Singh’s Tenure
The Central Government has extended the tenure of Gurdeep Singh, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of NTPC Limited, by one more year. As per the official notification issued on Thursday, Singh will now continue to head the country’s largest power generation company till 31st July 2026. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved the proposal sent by the Ministry of Power for the extension of his term.
Key Bills on Tribal Land, Panchayat Powers in the Monsoon Session
Jharkhand’s monsoon assembly session (from August 1) will see major bills debated, including amendments for Panchayati Raj to boost village powers and a Tribal Land Protection Bill to curb illegal land transfers. Lawmakers will also discuss mining, environmental safeguards, cybercrime, and economic issues like corruption, jobs, and law and order, amid tight five-day scheduling and heated government-opposition exchanges.
Vehicle Tracking to Curb Illegal Mining in Jharkhand
The Jharkhand Government will mandate real-time Vehicle Tracking Systems (VTS) on all vehicles transporting minerals. This move aims to control illegal mining, ensure accurate revenue collection, and enhance transparency. Monitoring of routes and trips will increase accountability, prevent mineral theft, and allow swift action if vehicles deviate from designated areas, potentially saving the state crores in lost revenue.
Coal Dispatch Dropped in June, States Lose Revenue as Monsoon Hits Mining
Coal-rich states like Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and MP saw lower royalty and DMFT earnings in June 2025 due to heavy rains disrupting coal transport. Coal India dispatched only 305 rakes per day, down from the 380-target, sharply reducing revenue. CCL and BCCL faced negative growth, affecting state economies that heavily rely on coal income.
Jharkhand International Trade Expo Inaugurated in Ranchi
The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Jharkhand International Trade Expo was inaugurated in Ranchi, featuring 60 stalls from 20 states. Godda MLA, Others Acquitted in 2014 Poll Code Violation Case
Godda RJD MLA Sanjay Prasad Yadav and three others were acquitted by a Dumka MP-MLA court in a 2014 assembly election model code of conduct violation case due to lack of evidence. The charges related to displaying party flags and opening offices in public spaces. One accused died during the trial, while the remaining were cleared by the court.
