In a major push to strengthen higher education infrastructure, the Jharkhand Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, approved the construction of a women’s college in Khunti and a degree college in Ichagarh (Seraikela-Kharsawan). These projects are part of the state government’s broader vision to increase access to higher education, especially for women and rural youth.

Khunti Women’s College: The state will invest Rs. 43.41 crore for establishing a dedicated women’s college in Khunti, promoting gender inclusion in education.

Ichagarh Degree College: Rs. 34.36 crore has been approved for building a degree college in Ichagarh under Seraikela-Kharsawan district.

Both colleges will function under the jurisdiction of Kolhan University.

Daily Allowance Hike for NCC Cadets
The cabinet has approved an increase in the daily allowance for NCC cadets participating in state, national, and international level camps:

For state-level camps: Rs. 120 to ₹165

For national-level camps: Rs. 160 to ₹200

For international-level camps: Rs. 180 to ₹265
Other Cabinet Decisions

Strengthening Judiciary: Approval was granted to create three temporary courts under the Jharkhand State Hindu Religious Trust Board, Ranchi, to handle trust disputes.

Land Compensation: Families displaced by various government projects, including irrigation and road schemes, will be compensated based on current market rates.

Pension Revision: Pensions of dependents of soldiers and freedom fighters from 9th August, 1999, and 18th March, 2002, have been revised in the range of Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 18,000 and Rs. 14,300 to Rs. 18,300 respectively.

Hiring and Transfers: Several key appointments and inter-departmental transfers were also approved across health, education, and administrative departments.

Irrigation Projects: The Cabinet sanctioned Rs. 1.94 crore for irrigation projects in Garhwa and Koderma districts, benefiting over 1,100 hectares of land.

Additional Classrooms: Approval was given to construct 72,600 new classrooms under the School Education Department’s infrastructure strengthening scheme.

Land Allotment: 25 acres allotted for the construction of an Eklavya Model Residential School in Koderma. Land transferred for airport and highway projects. 5.58 acres transferred to Forest Department for tree plantation initiatives.
