Coal Output from Commercial Mines Rises 16.4% in Q1
India’s coal production from commercial and captive mines rose by 16.4% to 46.01 million tonnes in Q1 FY 2025-26, up from 39.53 MT last year. Dispatches also increased 13% to 51.63 MT. The rise reflects improved mining efficiency and capacity utilization, ensuring steady coal supply for power, steel, and cement industries, aligning with India’s goal of energy self-reliance.
Adani Power Resumed Full Supply as Bangladesh Clears Dues
Bangladesh has cleared its outstanding dues of $437 million to Adani Power, resolving a long-standing payment dispute. This has restored full electricity supply from Jharkhand’s Godda power plant. The payment covers pending bills, transmission fees, and PPA issues. Bangladesh also issued a sovereign guarantee and a $180 million letter of credit to ensure timely future payments.
Land Type to Be Mapped in Jharkhand Mineral Block Survey
Jharkhand will now include land classification—such as government, forest, private, or barren—in its mineral block surveys using the precise Differential GPS (DGPS) method. Selected agencies will define boundaries, map terrain in 3D, and ensure data confidentiality. This modern approach replaces outdated survey methods and is mandated under amended mining laws to improve transparency and planning before lease allocation.
