The Central Government is gearing up to introduce eight new bills during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament, which will run from 21s July to 21st August, a total of 21 sittings. Among the key legislative agendas is the long-anticipated Income Tax Bill 2025, which aims to overhaul and simplify the existing Income Tax Act of 1961. The bill was previously introduced in the last session and is currently under review by a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). If passed during this session, the new income tax law is expected to come into force from 1st April, 2026.
According to official sources, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had earlier outlined the objectives of the new bill during the Union Budget presentation in February, stating that the legislation is intended to eliminate complexities in the current tax framework and align it with a more modern and taxpayer-friendly regime.
