Objection to Illegal Toll Collection and Call to Reopen Closed Mines
Members raised concern over alleged illegal toll collection from trucks entering cities in certain districts by municipal bodies. The Chamber president took up the matter directly with the Urban Development Secretary, who assured that orders to halt such collections would be issued within a week. The president also discussed on the ongoing Eastern Technology Conclave (East Tech), organized by the Eastern Command of the Indian Army in collaboration with the Society of Indian Defense Manufacturers. He thanked Union Minister of State for Defense Sanjay Seth and urged the MSME sector to participate actively.
Members from the Kolhan division highlighted that the non-operation of closed mines is hampering regional development and urged the State Government to take urgent steps to reopen them. Concerns were also raised about toll collection at the Anjan Dham and Nagri toll plazas on the Ranchi–Gumla highway. Members sought repairs to state market committee shops through the DFFT fund. The committee further discussed the challenges arising from the continued requirement of e-way bills despite the implementation of e-invoicing. Members opined that e-way bill obligations should be removed for cases where e-invoicing is already in place. General Secretary Aditya Malhotra assured that the matter would be taken up with the concerned department, with support from FICCI, CAIT, and other eastern region chambers.
