Jamshedpur to Start Land Verification Before Tata Steel Lease Renewal
Ahead of Tata Steel's lease renewal, five teams formed by the Deputy Commissioner's office started verifying land records from Schedules 1–5. They will check for changes in allotted land, misuse of civic amenity plots, and encroachments on 1,789.810 acres of vacant land. Officials from multiple circles were instructed on survey procedures during a meeting chaired by Additional Commissioner Bhagirath Prasad.
Jharkhand HC Stayed Eviction of Displaced Villagers from NTPC Project Site
The Jharkhand High Court stayed the eviction of displaced villagers from NTPC's Pankari Barwadih coal project in Hazaribag. Hearing a plea by landowners, Justice Rajesh Kumar ruled they must not be forcibly removed, noting acquisition procedures under relevant laws were allegedly not followed. The court directed NTPC to submit its reply in the matter.
Suspended IAS Vinay Choubey Named Accused in Hazaribagh Land Scam
The ACB has made suspended IAS officer Vinay Choubey, already jailed in a liquor scam case, an accused in the Hazaribagh khasmahal land scam. He appeared via video conferencing before the ACB special court. Earlier, several others, including the then khasmahal officer Vinod Chandra Jha, were charged. Preliminary investigation had revealed shocking irregularities.
