Education Minister of Jharkhand and Senior Leader of Jharkhand Mukti Morch Ramdas Soren passed away on 15th August 2015 by late evening at Apollo Hospital in New Delhi, where he had been undergoing treatment since 2nd August due to brain hemorrhage. He was 62 years old.
He was fallen in the bathroom at his residence in Ghorabandha, Jamshedpur on 2nd August 2025, while preparing for his morning walk. The fall left him with a severe head injury and internal bleeding in the brain. He was first taken to Tata Motors Hospital in Jamshedpur, where doctors declared his condition critical. He was airlifted to Delhi by air ambulance the same morning for better treatment. He had been on life support for several days and was declared brain dead earlier. Despite the efforts of a team of doctors, his condition deteriorated. Hospital authorities have confirmed his death. His body is expected to be brought back to Jamshedpur on 16th August 2025 for the final rites.
Political Career of Ramdas Soren
Ramdas Soren began his political journey with the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in 1980, serving in various leadership roles including Gudabandha Panchayat President and Secretary, Jamshedpur Block Committee Secretary, and Subdivision Committee Secretary. After the bifurcation of Singhbhum district, he became the Secretary of East Singhbhum district JMM.
He was elected MLA twice from Ghatsila constituency and held the position of Jamshedpur District President of the party before being inducted into the state cabinet. In 2020, after Champai Soren joined the BJP, Chief Minister Hemant Soren projected Ramdas Soren as a key leader from Kolhan in his cabinet. Following the 2024 assembly elections, he was reappointed as a minister in the Hemant Soren Government.

The first official confirmation came from Soren’s elder son Somesh Soren, who posted the news at around 10:46 pm on the late minister’s official handle on social media platform ‘X’. “With deep sorrow, I inform you that my father, Shri Ramdas Soren, is no longer with us,” he wrote. Soon after, Chief Minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren and Cabinet Ministers expressed grief on Social Media.
