The Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) has announced a state-wide Swadeshi campaign from 27th August to encourage traders to sell and promote only Indian-made goods. The decision comes in the wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day address, where he urged citizens to embrace Swadeshi for a stronger and self-reliant India.
At a press conference organized at the Chamber’s auditorium on 17th August 2025, Defence Minister of State Sanjay Seth, former Rajya Sabha MP Mahesh Poddar, Chamber President Paresh Gattani and other officials shared the campaign plan. Under the initiative, every shop associated with the Chamber will display a sticker reading: “Only Swadeshi Goods Sold Here.”

Minister Appealed to Prioritize Indian Products
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Sanjay Seth appealed to traders across Jharkhand to prioritize Indian products. “The Chamber will spread awareness across the state from 27th August and call upon all traders to promote Swadeshi items. The stickers will symbolize commitment to self-reliance,” he said. He also highlighted India’s progress in defense manufacturing, recalling that the country once relied heavily on imports but is now an exporter.

Former MP Mahesh Poddar described the Prime Minister’s 15th August speech from the Red Fort as a “roadmap for self-reliant India.” He noted that India must brace for global trade challenges, including tariff wars with the US, and added that the PM’s vision is clear: “By the 100th year of Independence, India must emerge as a developed nation, and the path to that lies through Atmanirbhar Bharat.” He further hinted that the Prime Minister may announce a “big gift” to citizens this Diwali, reinforcing the call for Swadeshi. Mr. Poddar also remarked that the US has imposed lower tariffs on China, perceiving it as self-reliant, while India has been viewed as vulnerable. “PM Modi’s resolve is to reverse that perception. GST has already strengthened the economy, and the Swadeshi drive will empower traders and consumers alike,” he added.
