Central Mine Planning & Design Institute (CMPDI) reported a CSR expenditure of Rs. 9.32 crore during FY2024-25, surpassing its annual target by 32%. Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Manoj Kumar informed that for FY2025-26, the statutory provision has been fixed at Rs. 13.21 crore, with an approved budget of Rs. 18 crore for CSR initiatives.
CSR Initiatives Focused on Health and Education
CMPDI’s CSR portfolio included multiple health and education-focused interventions. Through Cure India, clubfoot disability is being eliminated in children using the Ponseti method in Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh. Twenty youths are receiving training in a Government recognised two-year ophthalmic assistant diploma at Loknayak Jay Prakash Paramedical Institute, Hazaribagh. In tribal blocks of Jharkhand, CMPDI supported skill development in general nursing and midwifery (GNM). In addition, menstrual hygiene practices are being promoted among girls in 15 Government schools in Asansol.

Focus Extended to Renewable Energy and Rail Projects
Beyond CSR, CMPDI secured approval from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) for a greenhouse gas estimation project in collaboration with IIT-ISM Dhanbad, positioning itself as a lead agency for climate impact and mitigation studies. It has also prepared a feasibility report for a 99 MW wind power project in Odisha’s Raigarh district. Separately, CMPDI completed alignment checks in the tunnel for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad double-line high-speed railway project.
