Auctions Created Opportunities for Fresh Investments
Commercial coal mine auctions were first introduced in 2020 to attract private investment and reduce import dependence. According to the ministry, the continued rounds of auctions have created opportunities for fresh investments while strengthening domestic coal supply to meet growing demand in the power and industrial sectors. The 13th round is expected to add further momentum to the Government’s coal sector reforms.
