The Godda district administration on 22nd August 2025 organized the rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) review committee meeting for the Jitpur coal mining project, with a sharp focus on displacement, compensation and livelihood issues of affected families. The session, chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anjali Yadav at the Collectorate hall, deliberated on rehabilitation colonies, restoration of religious sites, and creation of social infrastructure.
Locals Discuss Facilities and Environment Issues
Elected representatives from displacement areas of the Jitpur Coal Mining Project placed demands for well-planned colonies, smart schools, sports grounds and essential amenities under the R&R package. Company officials outlined their proposals to address these concerns. The discussions also covered environmental issues, road connectivity, employment opportunities and pollution control measures linked to the mining project. The Jitpur coal mines awarded to Terri Mining through commercial coal mining auction.

DC Highlighted Transparent and Timely Rehabilitation Plan
Directing a transparent rehabilitation process, DC Anjali Yadav, IAS instructed that a comprehensive plan covering housing, schools, hospitals, and worship sites be prepared by a technical team from BIT Mesra. She called for strict adherence to timelines, reiterating that the district administration is fully committed to protecting the rights of displaced families and ensuring them a dignified life. Land acquisition officer Ritesh Jaiswal, senior project officers from the mining company, and other district officers participated in the meeting.
