Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore on 22nd August 2025 presented a supplementary budget of Rs. 4,296.62 crore for FY 2025-26 in the Jharkhand Assembly. The outlay, tabled during the ongoing monsoon session, will be debated in the House on 25th August 2025 before being put to vote. Minister said that supplementary grants are a constitutional necessity to address evolving expenditure needs.
Rural Development, Water and Education Prioritized
The Rural Development Department received the highest allocation of Rs. 968.89 crores, shown the Government’s focus on strengthening Jharkhand’s village economy. Water Supply and Sanitation Department allotted Rs. 417 crores, while School Education and Literacy received Rs. 420 crores. Other major allocations included Health and Family Welfare (Rs. 448.63 crores), Finance (Rs. 835.83 crores), and Cabinet & Election Department (Rs. 202.43 crores).

Explaining the rationale, Finance Minister Jharkhand highlighted that with nearly 75% of Jharkhand’s population residing in rural areas, strengthening their economic base is central to social and economic development. He added that the supplementary grants reflect this priority by ensuring additional resources for basic services and welfare schemes. The Assembly will debate and vote on the proposals on 25th August 2025, with the monsoon session will continue till 28th August 2025.
