A meeting on the proposed Rohane Mines project in Badkagaon block of Hazaribagh district was organized on 25th August 2025 under the chairmanship of Hazaribagh MP, Manish Jaiswal. The meeting organized at the MP’s service office in Hazaribagh town. Senior officials of NMDC, land owners and villagers from Indra and Basariya villages participated in the meeting.
Addressing the gathering, MP Jaiswal said that no developmental project can move forward without the consent of local people. He said that displacement, compensation, and employment rights of affected families must be fully protected. “Ignoring the interests of villagers will not be acceptable under any circumstances,” he told to the officials, while urging them to frame people-centric solutions.

NMDC Promised Detailed Rehabilitation Plan
Officials of NMDC assured villagers that the company would soon prepare a detailed framework covering rehabilitation, proper compensation, and employment opportunities. They said that the draft would be shared with villagers first, and only after their agreement would the project be taken ahead. Company representatives added that transparency and fairness would be maintained in every step of the process.
Villagers Raised Concerned Over Land and Future Security
During the meeting, villagers expressed their concerns over land acquisition, stressed the need for transparent procedures and just compensation. They sought guarantees for secure livelihoods in the future. Hazaribagh MP Manish Jaiswal instructed company officials to ensure that the dignity and safety of every affected family were safeguarded. The meeting saw participation from a large number of villagers, including representatives such as Vijay Yadav, Ganesh Manjhi, Jackap Soren, Talo Soren, and several others.
