A 45-year-old worker lost his life in an accident at the Venkatesh Iron Factory in Bhadaninagar, Ramgarh district, on 25th August 2025. The deceased, identified as Vijay Bedia, a resident of Bhadaninagar Gupta Line, was engaged in welding work in the process department when he fell from height without a safety belt. He was rushed to Hope Hospital in Ramgarh but was declared dead during treatment.
Protest Over Safety Lapses and Compensation
As news of his death spread, hundreds of villagers and family members gathered at the factory premises, keeping the body at the main gate and stopped operations. The demonstrators alleged that the company had failed to provide safety equipment to its workers, which caused many accidents. They demanded immediate compensation for the bereaved family and employment for dependents. Local leaders, including Jhari Munda, Jayram Bedia, Santosh Manjhi, Ramdas Bedia, Ramphal Bedia and AJSU district president Dilip Dangi, joined the protest.

Management Agreed to Settlement After Protest
The protest continued for nearly seven hours, during which the factory remained closed. Police officials, including station in-charge Brahamwat Kumar, and local representatives tried to manage the protest. Eventually, the plant management agreed to pay Rs. 11 lakh as compensation to the family and provide jobs to two dependents. The protest ended once the assurance was given, and operations at the plant gradually resumed.
