The curtain raiser for East Tech 2025, the upcoming defence and technology expo, was organized on 26th August 2025 at Kerketa Auditorium, Dipatoli Army Cantonment in Ranchi. The event brought together officers of the Eastern Command, more than 50 entrepreneurs, and MSME representatives.
The Expo to Change Jharkhand’s Future
Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, who attended as chief guest, said East Tech 2025 would create opportunities that could “transform Jharkhand’s destiny.” He noted that India is already exporting defence products to 92 countries worth over Rs. 23,000 crores, with a new target of Rs. 50,000 crores. “The defence sector has immense potential, and MSMEs can play a big role,” he added.

Atmanirbhar Push and Defence-Industry Collaboration
The expo, scheduled from 19th to 21st September 2025 at Khelgaon, Ranchi, is being organized by the Eastern Command Headquarters and the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM). More than 200 defence and technology vendors, including 50 MSMEs and startups, will showcase innovations. Senior Army officers, including Major General Madanraj Pandey and Major General Sajjan Singh Mann, said East Tech would strengthen collaboration between the Army and industry, particularly in adopting new technologies and equipment.
Big Opportunity for Jharkhand’s MSMEs
Former MP Mahesh Poddar, industry leaders from the Jharkhand Chamber, JSIA, Laghu Udyog Bharati, and Singhbhum Chamber said East Tech represents a major opportunity for Jharkhand’s MSME sector. They stressed that the event could open doors for local industries, create new markets, and align with the Government’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
