The Union Government of India has appointed senior IAS officer Akash Tripathi as the new Managing Director of Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), the public sector company under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. His appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). Akash Tripathi, a 1998-batch IAS officer from the Madhya Pradesh cadre, will serve at the rank and pay of Additional Secretary to the Government of India.
In an official statement SECI said that with Tripathi’s appointment, the leadership structure of the corporation has now been formalised. While Tripathi has taken over as MD, Santosh Sarangi, Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, will continue as Chairman of SECI.

Established as a central public sector enterprise under MNRE, SECI has been at the center of India’s renewable energy expansion. The organization is expected to play a pivotal role in upcoming green hydrogen and large-scale solar and wind energy initiatives.
