A tender dispute has came in light at Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL) Mill Mines after the canteen contract worth Rs. 1.61 crores was awarded to Jamuna & Family, sparking allegations of irregularities and collusion. The contract, effective from 15th August 2025 for one year, has come under scrutiny following objections from the initial lowest bidder.
Lowest Bidder Alleged Officials of Favouritism
Pawan Singh, who runs Rahul Hotel, claimed he had emerged as the L1 bidder in the tender process. According to him, despite being declared the lowest, the company delayed issuing his work order for nearly three months. He also alleged that during this period, the contract was shifted to Jamuna & Family, who were the second-lowest (L2) bidder. He further accused the management of favouritism and manipulation in awarding the contract.

Questions Raised on Catering Credentials
Pawan Singh also alleged that Jamuna & Family misrepresented their credentials by submitting documents from Deepak Enterprises, a firm primarily engaged in brick kiln and sand-stone supply. He questioned how such a firm could record catering supplies worth over Rs. 1.03 crores. He also raised concerns about whether the claimed transaction was backed by proper GST compliance, calling it a matter fit for a wider investigation. Complaints have reportedly been filed with GST authorities, Central Vigilance, and the Department of Atomic Energy.
Management Responded on the Allegations
When contacted, USIL’s canteen department head, Tapadhir Bhattacharya, said any wrongdoing should be investigated by the CBI. Executive Director M.K. Singhai maintained that the tender was awarded after verifying all documents, but assured that any irregularities, if detected later, action will be taken. The issue has reignited debates around transparency and fairness in tendering processes at public sector units.
