Repeat Incident Raised Law and Order Concerns
This was the second incident of gunfire within ten days in the Bhurkunda OP area. On August 18, the same gang had fired at the gate of an outsourcing company camp under the Sayal project. Police had recently arrested seven associates of the gang from Latehar with arms, but the latest attack has raised serious questions over the gang’s continued influence and the security situation in the coal belt.
Police Investigating on Multiple Angles
Following the incident, officials of Bhurkunda police station, CCL management and security personnel reached the site and reviewed the situation. Police said multiple angles of investigation are being pursued, including possible extortion motives. A year ago, a similar firing had also been reported at the same crusher. Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken to curb such activities.
