A 54-year-old canteen supervisor died today at the Koderma Thermal Power Station (KTPS), Banjhedih, after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest. The deceased, identified as Vivekanand Singh, a resident of Samastipur in Bihar, collapsed while preparing for routine morning prayers at the plant canteen.
According to workers present at the spot, Singh complained of chest pain and fell on the ground before he could be attended. Fellow employees attempted to revive him but failed. He was immediately taken to Sadar Hospital, Koderma, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The incident occurred on the very first day of a new contractor company taking charge of the canteen due to cancellation of the previous tender. Due to his positive track record and long service, Singh had been retained as supervisor under the new contractor.

Workers Warned for Protest
DVC officials said that Singh’s family would receive benefits under EPF and insurance provisions. They added that discussions are being held with the new contractor regarding additional compensation. Colleagues of the deceased, however, warned that if fair compensation is not agreed upon in talks with management, they would start to protest. Singh’s family has been informed of the incident.
