PM Modi Hailed GST 2.0 as Double Dose for Growth
Prime Minister Narendra Modi called GST 2.0 a “double dhamaka” of growth and reforms, effective from 22nd September. He said the simplified two-tier GST will boost savings, ease business, and create jobs. Modi likened the reforms to ‘Panch Ratna’—simpler tax, better life, higher consumption, investment boost, and cooperative federalism—stressing the need for timely reforms to keep India globally competitive.
Congress Hits Out at Modi Govt, Calls GST Rollback Anti-People
The Jharkhand Congress criticised the Centre’s GST slab revisions, saying the rollback proves failure of its economic policies. Spokesperson Sonal Shanti accused the government of burdening farmers, students, and households while favouring big corporates. She said Congress has opposed flawed GST since 2016 and demanded safeguards for manufacturing states to prevent regional revenue imbalance.

HEC to Manufacture Thermal Power Plant Equipment for the First Time
Ranchi-based Heavy Engineering Corporation is preparing to manufacture equipment for thermal power plants for the first time. The acting CMD of BHEL, also holding charge of HEC, directed groundwork at the HMTP plant. With casting, forging, and machining facilities co-located, HEC is refurbishing machines and considering remodeling to secure long-term work orders.
PMFME Spurs 3,954 New Food Units in Jharkhand, 14,500 Jobs Created
The PMFME scheme has enabled 3,954 new food units in Jharkhand, creating over 14,500 jobs. About 78% of beneficiaries are from SC/ST/OBC groups and 36% are women. Kohinoor Power Faces CBI Case for Rs. 241.9 Crore Loan Scam
Kolkata-based Kohinoor Power Pvt. Ltd. is accused of diverting Rs. 241.9 crore in loans meant for a coal-based thermal plant at Kuchidih, Seraikela-Kharsawan. Funds from multiple lenders allegedly turned NPA. A forensic audit exposed the fraud, prompting banks to approach the Calcutta High Court.
PGCIL Refuses to Complete Jharkhand Transmission Line Without Compensation
Nearly Rs. 99 crore worth of materials were stolen from under-construction 400 kV Chandwa–Latehar and Patratu–Latehar lines. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd has refused to finish work without reimbursement. After disputes, the Union Power Ministry directed Jharkhand to compensate; the state will release Rs. 29 crore initially, pushing project cost beyond Rs. 1,842 crore.
Two Policemen Killed in Palamu Encounter with TSPC Militants
Two District Armed Police constables, Santan Kumar Mehta and Sunil Ram, were killed in a midnight encounter with TSPC ultras at Keydaal village, Palamu. Constable Rohit Kumar was injured but is recovering after surgery. SP Reeshma Ramesan said the gun battle began during an operation against commander Shashikant’s group. Police vowed to avenge the fallen personnel.
Pakri-Barwadih Coal Mine Wins Prestigious Five-Star National Award
NTPC Mining Ltd’s Pakri-Barwadih project received the Five-Star Rated Opencast Coal Mine Award, ranking first among opencast mines in India. The award was presented in Mumbai by the Union Coal and Mines Minister. NTPC Director (Fuel) Shivam Srivastava accepted it alongside Project Head Suvrat Kumar Dash, crediting team effort and sustainable practices.
