Bank of Baroda Declares Anil Ambani, RCom Loan Account as Fraud
Bank of Baroda has classified Reliance Communications’ loan account and its former director Anil Ambani as “fraud,” citing misuse of loans worth ₹2,462 crore, of which ₹1,656 crore remains unpaid. The loans were declared NPA in 2017. RCom is under insolvency proceedings, while Ambani’s spokesperson argued he was a non-executive director with no operational role.
Vedanta to Acquire Debt-Ridden Jaiprakash Associates for ₹17,000 Crore
Vedanta has emerged as the successful bidder to acquire Jaiprakash Associates (JAL) with a ₹17,000 crore offer, surpassing Adani Group. JAL, operating in real estate, cement, power, hotels, and roads, entered insolvency proceedings after loan defaults. The acquisition under the IBC framework will expand Vedanta’s portfolio while providing lenders a resolution for JAL’s mounting debts.

In the seniority list for successor: Shailesh Kumar Singh (1991 batch), currently Secretary, Union Rural Development Ministry; followed by Nidhi Khare (1992) and Avinash Kumar (1993), the state’s Additional Chief Secretary.

Mine Subsidence in Dhanbad’s Maa Ambe Project, One Dead, Six Missing
A massive land subsidence at the Maa Ambe Mining Project in Katras, Dhanbad, swallowed a BCCL service van carrying seven workers. One death is confirmed, six remain missing. The collapse buried four houses and cattle, injuring villagers. BCCL, CISF, and DGMS teams are carrying out rescue operations amid protests over alleged negligence.

Encroachment on 4,000 Acres of PSU Land Stalls Expansion and Mining in Jharkhand
