The Chhattisgarh Government has entrusted senior Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Arun Pandey with the additional charge of Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife), a key post that had been vacant for several months. The position remained unfilled after the retirement of 1988 batch officer Sudhir Agrawal.

Arun Pandey, IFS is counted among the most seasoned officers of the State Forest Cadre. Over his career, he has handled multiple assignments focusing on forest protection, biodiversity preservation, and wildlife conservation. Known for his field-level engagement, he has been instrumental in initiatives aimed at strengthening wildlife habitats and ensuring forest security
The PCCF (Wildlife) post directly deals with the protection of tigers, elephants, and other scheduled species, along with managing national parks and sanctuaries. It also oversees measures to reduce human-wildlife conflicts, an issue that has grown in significance in recent years.
