A delegation of senior Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officers from the 2000 and 2001 batches called on Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan on 1st September 2025. The group included Dr Manoj Kumar Mohapatra, Ambassador of India to Romania, Amit Narang, Ambassador to Slovenia and Gloria Gangte, High Commissioner to Malta.
During the interaction, the diplomats and the Chief Minister exchanged views on governance issues, ongoing development projects, and India’s growing diplomatic outreach. The envoys praised the leadership of Majhi, popularly referred to as the “People’s CM”, while the Chief Minister acknowledged their contribution to advancing India’s interests abroad.

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas and Global Opportunities
The officers commended the successful organisation of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Bhubaneswar earlier this year, calling it a bridge between the global Indian diaspora and Odisha. They also pointed to the rising demand for skilled professionals in Europe and assured that ample opportunities exist for the youth of Odisha. In reply, Majhi reiterated the state’s commitment to youth empowerment through the ‘Skilled in Odisha’ programme, which has drawn international recognition.
The Chief Minister further emphasised the importance of promoting Odisha’s cultural heritage and handicrafts in global markets. He expressed optimism that such initiatives would generate economic benefits while enhancing the state’s international profile. Senior officials, including Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja and Principal Secretary to CM Saswat Mishra, were present at the meeting, reflecting the importance of the engagement.
