Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Union Coal & Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy Organized a high-level meeting on Friday, pledging joint efforts to resolve long-standing challenges in coal mining. The meeting was attended by senior state officials, Coal Ministry representatives and heads of major coal PSUs including CCL, BCCL and Coal India.
Discussions centered on critical issues such as royalty payments, land acquisition hurdles, compensation for displaced families, and provision of jobs to locals under mining-linked commitments. The CM discussed the need for a cooperative approach between the Centre and the State to move forward. Reddy apprised the State leadership of operational challenges faced by coal projects and sought support for faster approvals.

Both sides agreed on the importance of adhering to strict safety norms to prevent accidents, particularly those linked to illegal mining. Rehabilitation of displaced families, return of mined-out land to rightful owners, and better utilisation of DMFT and CSR funds were key points of agreement.
Officials agreed to take positive steps for faster clearances and to create livelihood opportunities for local communities.
