The land losers of Banahardi coal block, a captive mining project allocated to PVUNL (a subsidiary of NTPC Limited in joint venture with JBVNL) have decided to continue their boycott of all company-related works until the rectification of land records is completed. The decision was taken unanimously during a panchayat meeting organized at Bari under the chairmanship of Gram Pradhan Robin Oraon. The meeting reflected growing frustration among displaced raiyats over unresolved land disputes.
The meeting, jointly conducted by Lal Janmajay Nath Shahdev and Belal Ahmed, began with a detailed review of the previous decisions and updates from the delegation’s recent meeting with the Circle Officer. The villagers were informed that the officer had assured swift action on correcting land records, raising hopes among the affected families.

Decision for Continued Boycott
The village committee resolved to prepare a comprehensive list of land errors and family records for all raiyats. It was clearly decided that no company activities would be allowed in the coal block area until these issues are fully addressed. Villagers demanded immediate intervention from the district administration and warned that they would intensify their agitation if corrective action is delayed.
The meeting witnessed the participation of dozens of villagers including Haji Hashim, Ahmad Ansari, Mahesh Mochi, Arun Ram, Suresh Oraon, Ayub Ansari, Nezam Miyan and others, symbolising a unified stance on the issue. Local leaders said the boycott is a message to both the company and the administration that development projects cannot proceed without justice for displaced families.
