The Jharkhand Government appointed Ashok Kumar, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (HoFF), as the Executive Director of the Wasteland Development Board, Ranchi, in addition to his current responsibilities.

According to the notification, Ashok Kumar, a 1991-batch Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer, will hold this charge until further orders. The appointment has been made in Pay Matrix Level-17 and was issued with the approval of the Governor of Jharkhand.
As Head of Forest Force (HoFF), Ashok Kumar already heads the State’s Forest Management operations. With this additional charge, he will now also oversee policy implementation and development work under the Wasteland Development Board, which plays a key role in land reclamation and ecological restoration in Jharkhand.
The Wasteland Development Board is expected to play an important role in supporting State initiatives for compensatory afforestation, reclamation of degraded land, and climate resilience measures. His dual role may help ensure better coordination between the Forest Department and development projects across the State.
