Maoist Commander With Rs. 1 Crore Bounty Killed in Hazaribag Encounter
Three Maoists, including top commander Sahdev Soren alias Pravesh with a Rs. 1 crore bounty, were killed in an encounter in Hazaribag's Pantitri forests. Two COBRA jawans were injured. Police recovered AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and other arms. Soren, a key accused in the 2007 Chilkari massacre, had led multiple deadly attacks across Jharkhand and Bihar.
Centre Removes Public Hearing Requirement for Rare Mineral Mining
The Centre has ended the mandatory public consultation for environmental clearance of rare mineral mines, easing approvals for 30 critical minerals including lithium, cobalt, uranium, and thorium. The 8th September order aims to speed up mining vital for defence, atomic energy, and high-tech industries, cutting project delays of 3–12 months and supporting India's 2047 development goals.
Centre Launched Sixth Tranche of Critical Mineral Auctions
The Ministry of Mines announced the sixth tranche of critical mineral auctions, offering 4 mining lease blocks and 19 composite licence blocks, including Lithium, Tungsten, and Cobalt. Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy also named preferred bidders for seven deep-seated blocks under the new Exploration Licence regime. The move aims to boost mineral security, cut imports, and raise state revenues.

Water Treatment Plants to Be Set Up in 8 CCL & BCCL Mines, 51 MCM Water to Be Made Usable
Following the Prime Minister's directive, water treatment plants will be installed in eight coal mines of CCL and BCCL in Jharkhand under a pilot project. About 51 million cubic meters of mine water will be treated for domestic, irrigation, and industrial use. With a daily target of 9,900 KL, the model may expand to other mines if successful.

IT Probe Finds Rs. 700 Crore Fake Political Spending, No Proof of Rallies or Campaigns
Income Tax Department's investigation revealed that a political party falsely showed Rs. 700 crore spent on rallies, protests, and campaigns out of Rs. 2,000 crore donations, without any supporting bills. Probes found no evidence of events held, suggesting the party was registered mainly to misuse sections 80GGB/80GGC for tax evasion, helping young professionals evade taxes.
