ED Raids 9 Locations in Ranchi, Delhi in Kanke Land Scam
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids at nine locations, six in Ranchi and three in Delhi, over the Kanke land scam and money laundering case, seizing around Rs. 50 lakh from realtor B.K. Singh and associates. Singh, a key aide of Kamlesh Kumar, allegedly forged land records with Kanke officials to sell land illegally. CRPF provided security.
CM Hemant Soren Returns from Delhi After Legal Consultations on Saranda Sanctuary
CM Hemant Soren returned from Delhi after two days of consultations with legal experts regarding the Supreme Court’s directive to declare Saranda a wildlife sanctuary by 8th October. Senior officials, including Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari, accompanied him. The state government plans to notify Saranda as a sanctuary before the deadline and inform the court.
Jharkhand Cabinet Likely to Approve PESA Rules Today, Strengthening Local Self-Governance

Jharkhand Records Drop in Polluted River Stretches, CPCB Credits State’s Efforts
CPCB’s latest report shows Jharkhand’s polluted river stretches have declined, with two stretches now meeting water quality standards and one moving to a lower pollution category. Nationwide, polluted river stretches fell 15.67% since 2018. The improvement is attributed to better sewage treatment, industrial effluent management, and stricter enforcement of pollution norms under the National Water Quality Monitoring Programme.

HCL Awards Kendadih Mines Contract to Khetan Mining, Copper Production to Resume
Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) will restart operations at Kendadih Copper Mines after two years, following environment clearance. Khetan Mining Pvt. Ltd. won the global tender and will operate the mine for 10 years. Production will start at 2.2 lakh tonnes of ore annually, rising to 4.5 lakh tonnes after full development across 10 levels.
