Dr. Ranjeet Kumar Singh, senior scientist at CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML), Jamshedpur, has been honoured with the National Geoscience Award 2024 by the Union Ministry of Mines. President Droupadi Murmu presented the award to Dr. Singh in recognition of his work in mineral beneficiation and sustainable mineral development.

Recognised for Pathbreaking Work
Dr. Singh has developed innovative process flowsheets for the beneficiation of ferrous and non-ferrous ores, minerals, and coal, work that has direct implications for India’s mining and metallurgy industries. His research supports efficient resource utilisation and aligns with the country’s push for sustainable mining practices. He was earlier awarded the CSIR Technology Award 2022 for his contributions to mineral processing technology and received the Raman Research Fellowship 2024 for advanced research. Colleagues at NML described him as a dedicated scientist whose work bridges laboratory research with industrial application.
Dr. Singh’s recognition has brought attention to Jamshedpur and the Kolhan region as a hub of cutting-edge mineral research.
