Repeat of June Incident
This is not the first time such an accident has occurred at the plant. In June this year, a similar incident at SMS-2 had injured five workers. The back-to-back mishaps have raised serious questions over safety standards and preventive maintenance practices inside the plant.
Although an official statement from the plant management is still awaited, sources confirmed that an internal inquiry has been initiated. Labour unions and workers’ representatives have demanded strict compliance with safety protocols, citing repeated accidents that have endangered workers’ lives.
