Coal India Limited (CIL) recorded 329.13 million tonnes (MT) of production in the first half of the ongoing financial year, falling short of the target of 376.6 MT. The data covers the April–September 2025 period.

Dispatch Trailed Target Figures
Coal dispatch during the same period reached 353.59 MT, against the set target of 422.75 MT. The mismatch in production and dispatch highlights continuing supply and demand adjustments in the coal sector, even as power demand remained elevated across the country.

Subsidiary-wise Performance
The subsidiary-wise figures showed uneven performance. Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) emerged as the only unit to surpass its target, producing 69.38 MT against a goal of 66.98 MT. Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) produced 96.53 MT against a target of 103.74 MT, while Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) turned in 24.84 MT against 26.67 MT. However, Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), and South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) reported significantly lower output than their set goals.
