Police Investigation and Manhunt Underway
Following the alert, a police team from Chandwa reached the site and began investigation. Latehar DSP Arvind Kumar said that several teams have been deployed to trace the culprits. “Raids are being conducted at all possible hideouts, and the accused will be arrested soon,” he said. Police are also scanning local networks and CCTV footage from nearby areas to track the movement of the assailants.
Sources indicated that the firing might be linked to an attempt to create fear among contractors or workers to demand extortion money. Similar incidents have been reported in the coal siding areas of Latehar and Chatra in the past, where local criminal groups often attempt to impose “rangdari” (extortion) on transporters and labour contractors.
