CO Promised Land Correction Camp and Public Hearing
Responding to the delegation, CO Sumit Kumar Jha assured that a special land correction camp would soon be organised in Bari Panchayat to address land-related grievances. He said that all discrepancies arising at the local or circle level would be verified and corrected. “Ensuring accuracy in land records is our priority. No raiyat should feel distressed or deprived of their rightful land,” he said. The CO further mentioned that after the Chhath Puja, a public meeting would be organised to review progress on land correction and resolve disputes on the spot.
Villagers Expressed Hope for Early Resolution
The displaced families and local representatives expressed satisfaction with the CO’s assurance and hoped for timely action. They said that incorrect survey entries had caused anxiety among landholders in the coal project area, where land acquisition has been underway for months. The meeting was attended by several local figures, including Lal Janmejay Nath Shahdeo, Gram Pradhan Roben Oraon, Panchayat Samiti member Ashok Oraon, Haji Hashim, and other villagers. The CO’s commitment to corrective measures has raised expectations that long-pending land-related issues in Banharadi Coal Block will finally move towards resolution.
