Move Expected to Curb Illegal Mining
Authorities believe the completion of the auction will bring much needed order to Latehar’s Sand trade, which has long been marred by illegal mining and storage activities. The regulated Sand lifting under official supervision is expected to generate additional revenue for the Government and reduce environmental violations. However, officials also anticipate a possible rise in Sand prices, which could affect local consumers constructing homes or small scale projects. With formal operations set to begin soon, the administration hopes this auction will establish a model for transparent and sustainable Sand management in Jharkhand.
