With an estimated 15.05 billion tonnes of coal spread across 28 identified blocks in Dumka, Pakur, Godda, and Deoghar, Santal Pargana is set to emerge as Jharkhand’s new industrial and energy hub. Valued at over Rs. 30 lakh crores, the reserves could generate Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 60,000 crores in state revenue and create around 1.68 lakh direct and indirect jobs, boosting regional growth and infrastructure.
PVUNL Successfully Completes 72-Hour Trial of Unit-1 at Patratu Thermal Project
Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL) successfully completed a 72-hour trial run of its Unit-1 under the 3×800 MW Phase-I project on Thursday. A joint venture of NTPC and JBVNL, the project’s foundation was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018. CEO A.K. Sehgal said PVUNL is committed to supplying 85% of its total power generation to Jharkhand.

16 Jharkhand-Cadre IPS Officers Set for Promotion Across Ranks
Sixteen IPS officers from the Jharkhand cadre are set to be promoted across various ranks, from ADG to Selection Grade. The police headquarters has sent the proposal to the State Government via the Home Secretary for approval. As per sources, 2001-batch officer Manoj Kaushik will be promoted to ADG, while 2008-batch officers Anish Gupta, M. Tamilvanan, and Ajay Linda will move up to IG rank.

Court Denies Bail to Pradeep Bagchi in Army Land Scam Case
A Ranchi court has rejected the bail plea of Pradeep Bagchi, accused in the illegal sale of Army-occupied land registered at Bariatu police station. Hearing the plea, Additional Judicial Commissioner Yogesh Kumar denied bail citing serious charges. Bagchi is also an accused in a money laundering case and remains in judicial custody. The FIR was filed in 2022 over forged documents.
High Court Seeks ACB’s Reply on IAS Vinay Chaube’s Bail Plea
The Jharkhand High Court has directed the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to file its reply by 10th November on the bail plea of IAS officer Vinay Kumar Chaube. The hearing was conducted by Justice S.K. Dwivedi. Chaube has sought bail in a land irregularity case in Hazaribagh, for which an FIR was registered against him in August.
CID Files Chargesheet in Tetulia Forest Land Scam
The CID has filed a chargesheet in the Tetulia forest land scam involving illegal sale of 95.65 acres of government land in Bokaro. The case names Rajbir Construction owner Puneet Kumar Agarwal, Izhar Hussain, and Akhtar Hussain as accused. Puneet is currently on bail, while the Hussain brothers remain in judicial custody. The court will hear the case on 30th October.
RPF Files Case Against Barkaagaon MLA and Hundreds Over Kurmi Protest

GST Raid on Dhanbad Coal Trader’s Properties, Rs. 9.2 Lakh Fraud Case Filed in Dumka
GST officials conducted raids on coal trader Kailash Agarwal’s Chhaiya residence and hard coke plants in Govindpur and Barwadda, seizing several documents. The operation, reportedly by an outside GST team, created panic among local traders. In Dumka, businessman Shitesh Kumar Jaiswal lodged an FIR accusing a West Bengal-based firm owner of cheating him of Rs. 9.2 lakh in an advance payment.
Bank Manager Arrested for Rs 9.67-Crore Fraud in Palamu
Police arrested Manoj Kumar Singh, manager of Dangwaar branch of Gramin Bank in Palamu, from Sasaram for embezzling Rs. 9.67 crore. Singh allegedly diverted loan and deposit funds from 11 women’s groups into fake accounts and withdrew the money. Despite returning Rs. 5.7 crore, Rs. 1.5 crore remains unpaid. He was absconding since the FIR was filed in July and is now in police custody.
Excise Department Team to Visit Five States to Strengthen Jharkhand’s Liquor Track-and-Trace System
To make Jharkhand’s liquor track-and-trace system more effective, the Excise and Prohibition Department will send a team to five states—Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka—after Diwali. The team will study how these states monitor liquor production and sales through QR or barcodes. Based on their findings, Jharkhand will enhance transparency and curb counterfeit liquor.
