The festival of prosperity truly lived up to its name this year as Jharkhand’s markets witnessed record breaking Dhanteras sales across sectors. From smartphones and gaming PCs in Ranchi to gold jewellery in Hazaribagh and Palamu, shoppers thronged showrooms through the day and late into the night, marking one of the most vibrant Dhanteras in recent years.

Ranchi’s Markets Overflowed with Tech Enthusiasts
In Ranchi, electronic stores at Hari Om Tower, Church Complex, and Main Road reported five to ten times more footfall than usual. Shoppers queued up for high end gadgets, with mobile phones priced up to Rs. 2 Lakh and premium gaming PCs touching the same mark. Retailers confirmed a 40% jump in overall electronics sales compared to last year. Laptops, Smart TVs, Washing Machines, and AI-based home appliances dominated purchase lists, while accessories like Smartwatches, Earbuds, and Tabs added to the festive buzz. Shop owners offered special decorations and lucrative deals to attract the tech savvy crowd.

Property Registrations Continued Despite Server Slowdown
Even as festive buying surged, Ranchi’s property registration offices struggled with a slow online server, delaying deed registrations under the state’s ‘Jharnibandhan’ system. Despite the glitch, 440 registrations including land, flats, and shops were completed across Jharkhand, generating over Rs. 5.55 crores in revenue. Around 851 people had booked slots, though many had to return due to delays.

Palamu and Hazaribagh Drove High-Value Transactions
Palamu emerged as a major trade centre with over Rs. 200 crores worth of business recorded on Dhanteras. The automobile sector led sales with more than 1100 two wheelers and 375 four wheelers delivered, followed by jewellery, electronics, and utensil markets. Hazaribagh too saw bustling lanes, with an estimated Rs. 100 crores in trade volume. Despite soaring gold prices, jewellery stores remained packed, with shoppers opting for coins and ornaments. Nearly 2000 motorcycles and 500 cars were delivered, while Smart TVs and Refrigerators also sold briskly.

Rural Markets Added to Festive Prosperity
Sahibganj and surrounding blocks in the Santhal region reported Rs. 25 crores worth of purchases, reflecting strong rural buying power. Gold and silver shops remained crowded, while electronic showrooms and two wheeler outlets recorded impressive sales. Local administrations deployed police at key junctions to manage traffic and ensure smooth operations amid the heavy rush.
