The former employees of JMT Limited, now under the ownership of Ramkrishna Forgings Limited (RKFL), have approached the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) alleging that their long-pending settlement remains unresolved even a year after the acquisition. Around 300 workers, who had served the company for over two to three decades, claimed that their dues, gratuity, and salaries were not paid following the takeover.

Repeated Appeals Went Unheard
After JMT’s assets were acquired through an NCLT order dated 22nd November 2023, several rounds of meetings took place between the RKFL management and the workers. However, employees said those talks failed to yield any agreement. Petitions were earlier submitted before the Deputy Labour Commissioner and Labour Superintendent in Jamshedpur and Seraikela, but the workers alleged that the company did not respond to any of the notices or representations.

Workers Demand Legal Intervention
The workers, many of whom spent their entire working life in JMT, have urged the district administration to initiate legal action against the RKFL management for alleged violation of labour laws. They have demanded a fair settlement for all employees affected by the acquisition. The matter has now reached the administrative level, with labour unions calling it a case for ensuring justice to long serving industrial workers in Jharkhand’s manufacturing belt.
