NCC Limited Bags Rs. 6829 Crore Amrapali Mining Contract from Coal India’s CCL
NCC Limited has won a massive Rs. 6,828.94 crore contract from Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) for coal extraction and overburden removal at the Amrapali open-cast project in Jharkhand. The agreement, formalized on 24th October 2025, involves deploying heavy earth-moving machinery to handle 413 million cubic metres of material, marking one of NCC’s largest mining orders in recent years.
CCL Clears Nagarjuna Company for 233-Million-Tonne Coal Mining Contract at Amrapali Project
Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) has issued a departmental letter to Nagarjuna Company, clearing the way for coal production and dispatch of 233 million tonnes from Jharkhand’s Amrapali coal project. The firm must deposit a Rs. 400 crore bank guarantee within 21 days. Earlier, Kalinga had won the contract at 25% lower rates but failed to submit the guarantee by 20th October.
DVC to Shut Down 500 MW ‘A’ Power Plant at Bokaro Thermal from 29th October
Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) will shut down its 500 MW ‘A’ Power Plant at Bokaro Thermal from 29th October, following Chhath Puja. Operations were halted after 105 days of no ash transportation and lack of administrative support. General Manager Rajesh Biswas said both ash ponds are full, making it impossible to continue plant operations while ensuring safety and environmental balance.
Seven Jharkhand IPS Officers to Attend Mid-Career Training at Hyderabad
Seven Jharkhand-cadre IPS officers, including Ajay Linda, V.S. Ramesh, Manoj Ratan Chothe, Ajit Peter Dungdung, Ashwini Kumar Sinha, Naushad Alam, and Priyadarshi Alok, will attend Phase-IV Mid-Career Training at the National Police Academy, Hyderabad, from 27th October to 22nd November. The training is mandatory before promotion to IG rank, with Ajay Linda expected to be promoted later this year.
Retired Officer Virendra Bhushan Granted Backdated Promotion to IAS
Retired Jharkhand Administrative Service officer Virendra Bhushan has been granted promotion to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) with retrospective effect. The Union Ministry of Personnel has issued a notification, and the state government will now extend all related benefits. His promotion, delayed since 2015 over a missing integrity certificate, was approved following a Patna High Court order.

Mining Operations Resume at NTPC’s CB Coal Mines After Bonus Dispute Paused for Talks
Coal mining operations at NTPC’s CB Mines in Keradari resumed Friday night after a five-day halt caused by a workers’ strike over bonus payments. Operators under the Jharkhand Jan Sangharsh Mazdoor Union had stopped work since 10th October, demanding an 8.33% bonus from MDO firm Ritwik Company. Following talks, both sides agreed to meet again on 3rd November.
Fly Ash Transport Halt Threatens Power Supply from BTPS and CTPS after 105 Days of Shutdown
Fly ash transport from DVC’s Bokaro Thermal (BTPS) and Chandrapura (CTPS) plants has remained suspended for 105 days, leaving ash ponds nearly 95% full and risking plant shutdown. The stalemate over transporters’ fare hike demands could disrupt power supply to seven Jharkhand districts, including Bokaro and Dhanbad. DVC officials warned production may halt post-Chhath if the issue remains unresolved.
77 Units of Blood Donated at Adhunik Power on Founder’s Day

LIC Dismisses Report Claiming $3.9 Billion Investment Proposal in Adani Group
Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has rejected a Washington Post report alleging it prepared a proposal to invest $3.9 billion (Rs. 32,000 crore) in Adani Group companies. Calling the claims false and misleading, LIC said no such document or plan ever existed.
