Contract Worker Loses Hand in Bokaro Steel Plant Accident, Condition Critical
A contract worker, Debashish Rai, suffered a severe accident at Bokaro Steel Plant’s Blast Furnace-04 on Thursday, losing his right hand and sustaining injuries to the left. Employed under HN Refractory Works, he was rushed to Bokaro General Hospital and later referred to Apollo Kolkata. The incident has sparked outrage among workers, prompting unions to demand stricter safety measures and accountability from BSL management.
Jharkhand Govt Seeks More Time to Respond in Mountain Mining PIL
The Jharkhand High Court, led by Chief Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan and Justice Rajesh Shankar, heard public interest litigations on illegal mountain mining and forest protection on Thursday. The state government sought additional time to file its response, which the court granted until November 13. Earlier, the bench questioned whether the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) was functioning effectively.
Villagers Oppose Private Coal Block Project, Vow Not to Give Up Land
At a meeting in Sandh village, Barkagaon (Hazaribagh), locals unanimously opposed a proposed private coal block project, declaring they will not give an inch of their ancestral land. The meeting, chaired by former Mukhiya Kartik Mahato, also planned for a massive “Mahapanchayat” on 7th November. Villagers warned they would protest wherever the company sets up camps.
CISF Warned HEC: Security Services to Be Withdrawn Over Dues
The CISF has warned Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC) that it will withdraw its security services if dues exceeding Rs. 285 crore are not cleared soon. CISF suggested HEC could transfer land in lieu of payment. The HEC management has informed the Heavy Industries Ministry for guidance. Earlier, HEC had allotted 158 acres to CISF against pending dues.
Armed Gang Attacked Mixing Plant in Khalari, Loots 300 Litres of Diesel
A gang of 10–12 armed miscreants attacked Radheshyam Infrastructure’s mixing plant near Damodar River in Khalari around 1 AM, assaulting guards and looting 300 litres of diesel, machinery, and CCTV equipment. Employees were held hostage during the raid. In a separate incident, thieves broke into a hardware shop in Nagri, stealing goods worth Rs. 2 lakh and cash, sparking fear among locals.
Cleanliness Drive Organized at Dalmia Cement Bokaro
A special cleanliness drive was organized at Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited, Bokaro, under the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva 2025’ campaign and Namami Gange initiative, led by Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha. Employees, officers, and district officials participated in cleaning and plastic waste disposal activities. Unit Head Sunil Kumar K. Pollution Control Board Inspects Stone Mines in Gumla’s Karaondajor
A team from the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board inspected stone mining sites in Karaondajor, Gumla, on Thursday to assess environmental impact. Officials examined quarries operated by Saroj Minz and Bipin Bihari Ohdar and interacted with villagers to hear complaints and suggestions. The inspection was attended by the SDO, CO, District Mining Officer, and other officials.
Jharkhand HC Heard Contempt Plea on PESA Rules
Jharkhand High Court heard a contempt petition over non-implementation of PESA rules; the state counsel told the bench the revised draft has been sent to the cabinet. The court asked to be informed of cabinet decision and kept the interim ban on allotment of minor minerals and sand quarries. Next hearing fixed for 13th November. CGL-2023 result also remains stayed.
Jharkhand High Court Slams State Over HIV Infection in Children After Faulty Blood Transfusion
The Jharkhand High Court criticized the State Government for failing to follow blood transfusion SOPs after five thalassemia-affected children in Chaibasa contracted HIV. The bench of Chief Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan and Justice Rajesh Shankar directed the health department to file an affidavit, detail blood bank operations, and explain why Nucleic Acid Test (NAT) machines remain uninstalled in state hospitals.
Coal Secretary Confirmed Coal Exchange Rules by November
Coal Secretary Vikram Dev Dutt announced that draft rules for India’s first coal exchange will be finalised by November-end after stakeholder review. The exchange aims to ensure transparency and market-driven pricing in coal trading. Dutt also confirmed that disinvestment of Bharat Coking Coal Ltd (BCCL) and CMPDIL is progressing, with SEBI clearing their DRHPs and investor roadshows currently underway.
Coal India Amended E-Auction Scheme, Removes Mandatory Sampling Clause
Coal India has revised its e-auction scheme, removing the mandatory sampling clause for buyers who do not opt for third-party sampling. The new policy will take effect from 1st November. Giridih MP Chandraprakash Choudhary welcomed the move, saying it reflects traders’ long-standing demand. He added that he had earlier raised the issue with the Coal Secretary for resolution.
Coal India Hikes DA for Officers by 2.8% to 51.8%
Coal India Limited and its subsidiaries have increased the dearness allowance (DA) for officers by 2.8%, raising it to 51.8% effective from 1st October. The decision, announced by GM Rakesh V. Government Offers 21 Coal Blocks for Gasification in 14th Auction Round
