Jharkhand Governor Clears MSME Exemption Bill to Fast-Track Industrial Growth
Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar has approved the MSME (Special Exemption) Bill 2025, which aims to boost industrial development by simplifying the process of setting up micro, small and medium enterprises. The bill, passed in the Assembly on August 26, offers exemptions from multiple permissions and inspections, provides single-window clearance for licenses, and seeks to attract investment and strengthen small businesses in the State.
Coal Dominated Jharkhand’s Mineral Revenue, Sand Generates Least in FY 2024-25
Jharkhand earned Rs. 10041.63 crore in mineral revenue in FY 2024-25, with coal contributing the highest share at Rs. 6358.74 crore. Sand generated the lowest income at just Rs. 1.80 crore due to delayed auctions and pending environmental clearances. Iron ore ranked second, followed by bauxite, limestone and mica. The state aims to boost mineral revenue by 15% next year through faster sand mine auctions and policy reforms.
Jharkhand Records 4.42% Higher Revenue Collection Till October, GST Up by 4.70%
Jharkhand’s Commercial Tax Department collected Rs. 13092.57 crore in revenue till October 2025, marking a 4.42% rise from last year. GST collection reached Rs. 8572.91 crore, up 4.70%. VAT revenue for October grew 13.24% to Rs. 510.04 crore, while IGST settlement fell by 19.86%. With a yearly target of Rs. 26500 crore, the state has achieved 49.41% of its goal so far.
Jharkhand Eyes Rs. 16000 Crore Mining Revenue as 16 Iron Ore and Gold Blocks Set for Auction
Marking 25 years of statehood, Jharkhand is set to boost mining revenue from Rs. 11000 crore to an estimated Rs. 16000 crore through upcoming auctions of 11 iron ore and 5 gold mines. The auctions could alone generate Rs. 5000 crore for the state. JEMCL will lead new mineral exploration using advanced GIS technology. Meanwhile, forest cover has risen to 31.51%, though dense forest remains limited at 3.31%.
Jharkhand to Seek Global Investment Ties with UAE, Gulf, Europe and Africa
To attract investment in handloom, textiles and allied sectors, Jharkhand will send a high-level delegation to Dubai from 17th to 19th November for the International Apparel & Textile Fair (IATF). The state aims to showcase its industrial potential, meet global buyers, explore technology partnerships, and engage with Indian diaspora investors. The visit will also support the drafting of Jharkhand’s upcoming Textile Policy and boost the state’s global brand value.
HEC Plans Refurbishment of 1000 Old Machines to Tackle Financial Crisis
Facing severe financial distress and lacking major orders in FY 2025-26, Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC) has planned to refurbish nearly 1000 machines it earlier supplied to various companies. The initiative aims to upgrade technology and restore revenue flow. With limited funds even for tender participation, HEC is also focusing on manufacturing spare parts and leveraging its expertise in dragline equipment to secure future orders.
Adani Power Moves to International Arbitration Over Payment Dispute With Bangladesh
Adani Power has initiated international arbitration to resolve its ongoing payment dispute with the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) over electricity supplied from its Godda plant under a 2017 agreement. The disagreement stems from differences in cost calculations and billing. Both sides are still in talks, and Adani says it remains committed to ensuring reliable power supply while seeking a quick and mutually beneficial resolution.
New GM Taken Charge of Sanghamitra Coal Mine
Chittaranjan Kumar, the newly appointed General Manager of Asia’s largest coal mining zone, has been tasked with reopening the long-pending Sanghamitra coal mine and boosting output at the Magadh project. He must restart the closed Dewalgada and Kundi patches, speed up land acquisition, and secure local consent for jobs and compensation. The GM held a review meeting and inspected the mines after taking charge.
Tribal Farmers Stage Protest in Tandwa, Submit 32-Point Demands
Hundreds of tribal villagers in Tandwa held a protest demanding action on land acquisition, rehabilitation, jobs, and compensation issues linked to CCL mining projects. Under the banner of the Joint Gram Sabha Forum, they marched to the Block Office and submitted a 32-point memorandum to the BDO. Protesters demanded return of leveled land, strict CNT Act enforcement, local jobs, restoration of forest land, and inclusion of Chatra in the Fifth Schedule.
Three BGR Mining Officers Held Hostage by Villagers in Barkagaon, Alleged Assault Reported
In Hazaribagh’s Barkagaon area, three officials and a driver of mining company BGR were allegedly abducted and assaulted by villagers near Badam Durga Temple on Tuesday evening. The officials were taken to Gondalpura and beaten before police intervention. BGR chief Satya Reddy filed an FIR naming several villagers. Locals claimed the company was operating without permission, leading to the confrontation. Police are investigating.
Nationwide Protest Called Against Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2025, Rally in Delhi
The National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers has decided to hold a mass protest rally in Delhi on 30th January 2026, against the Electricity (Amendment) Bill and power sector privatisation. The campaign will be supported by farmers’ groups and consumer organisations. State-level conventions will be held from 15th November to 25th January, followed by a strategy meeting in Delhi on 14th December.
ACB Sought Arrest Warrant Against Businessman Vinay Singh’s Wife in Illegal Forest Land Case
The Anti-Corruption Bureau has requested a court-issued warrant against Snigdha Singh, wife of automobile businessman Vinay Singh, for allegedly purchasing government forest land in Hazaribagh through forged mutation with official collusion. Despite three summons, she did not appear for questioning. Her anticipatory bail plea has already been rejected by the ACB court. The disputed land totals around one acre across multiple plots.
Gopichand Hinduja, Head of UK’s Richest Family, Died at 85
Gopichand P. Hinduja, chairman of the Hinduja Group and the richest man in Britain for four consecutive years, passed away in London at 85. Known as “GP,” he entered business at 17, worked 30 years without a break, and transformed the failing Ashok Leyland into a Rs. 82000-crore company. The Hinduja family’s net worth stands at Rs. 4.04 lakh crore.
Mehli Mistry Steps Down from Tata Trusts, Cites Need to End Speculation
Mehli Mistry has informed Tata Trusts chairman Noel Tata of his decision to step down as trustee, saying he served with respect until 28th October but now wishes to end ongoing media speculation. In his letter, Mistry warned that prolonging the issue could harm the Tata Group’s reputation. Tata Trusts hold controlling stake in Tata Sons and play a key role in the group’s governance.
