Tadasha Mishra Appointed as Acting DGP of Jharkhand
Jharkhand has appointed 1994-batch IPS officer Tadasha Mishra as the acting Director General of Police. This follows the voluntary retirement of the outgoing DGP, Anurag Gupta, which was accepted by the state government. Mishra previously served as special secretary in the Home, Prison, and Disaster Management Department.
Tata Steel Sought Renewal of Jamshedpur Land Lease, Submitted Proposal to Government
Tata Steel has formally requested the Jharkhand government to renew its Jamshedpur land lease, which expires on 31st December 2025. The proposal, submitted through the East Singhbhum DC, includes details of land under five schedules, along with information on areas surrendered due to encroachment and land use changes. The company said required documents are being provided and hopes the new lease, effective 1 January 2026, is approved on time.
Hindalco Sought NOC to Repair Damaged Road in Latehar
Hindalco has offered to build a damaged road in Latehar at its own cost and has requested a No Objection Certificate from the Rural Works Department, which controls the road. The company says the poor condition of the route is affecting operations. Although discussions have been held at the department level, no final decision has been taken on granting the NOC.
Bauxite Workers Union Warned Hindalco of Intense Agitation Over Pending Demands
At a meeting in Chirodih and Kujam mines, the Bauxite Workers Union said Hindalco has not acted on the 16-point demand letter submitted on 17th October. Union leader Ramchandra Gop accused the company of cutting labour costs and reducing permanent jobs from 3000 to just 300. The union warned that if talks do not begin soon, workers will launch a stronger agitation.
Worker Dies in KTPS Accident, Family Blocks Plant Gate Seeking Compensation
A worker named Prakash Yadav died in an accident at KTPS power plant in Jayanagar, Koderma. His family and labour leaders blocked the main gate demanding Rs. 20 lakh compensation and a job for a family member. They alleged lack of safety measures at the plant. The Chief Engineer assured compensation as per DVC rules and promised a job, but the protest continues until payment is made.
Record 65% Voting in First Phase of Bihar Election, Women Outvote Men Again
Bihar recorded its highest-ever turnout with 64.69% voting in the first phase across 121 seats in 18 districts, surpassing the 62.57% record of 2000. Women once again voted in higher numbers than men. A total of 1,314 candidates, including 122 women, are in the fray. Muzaffarpur saw the highest turnout at 71.41%, while Patna recorded the lowest at 58.40%.

In the last 25 years, Jharkhand’s exports have tripled, reaching countries like the US, Japan, England, African and Arab nations, Australia and Canada. Known as India’s mineral hub, the state exports coal, iron ore, copper, steel products, textiles, silk, paintings, farm goods and energy. Experts say better logistics, direct port connectivity and cold storage facilities can boost exports further, making Jharkhand a leading export state.
Rs. 1600 Crore Dues Stall Key Rural Water and Road Projects in Jharkhand
Major schemes of the Rural Works and Drinking Water & Sanitation departments in Jharkhand have come to a halt due to severe fund shortage. Contractors have stopped work and are demanding payment of over Rs. 1600 crore in pending bills, including Rs. 600 crore stuck for 21 months under the Har Ghar Nal Jal scheme. With no fresh budget allocation, road, bridge and pipeline projects across rural areas are badly delayed.
Digital Census Preparations Begin in Jharkhand, Data Entry to Start from 9th November
Jharkhand has begun preparations for India’s first fully digital census. From 9 November, data entry will start, followed by digital boundary mapping and geo-fencing of every village and town. Citizens will be able to submit details themselves through a secure app or portal. Training of officials will continue till 2026, and the final field census will formally begin on 1st March 2027, including caste-wise data collection for the first time.
Lokayukta Post Vacant for 4.5 Years in Jharkhand, Over 3200 Complaints Still Pending
Jharkhand has had no Lokayukta since June 2021, leaving 3,256 corruption and grievance cases unresolved. Key posts, including Secretary and Joint Secretary, are also vacant. Despite a yearly budget of Rs. 4.61 crore and a newly built office and residence, the system is idle. Staff have not received promotions or ACP benefits for 18 years, and hearings in the High Court continue without results.
ACB Begins Probe Against Former Ranchi DC Rai Mahimapat Ray in Assets Case
The Jharkhand Anti-Corruption Bureau has launched a preliminary inquiry against IAS officer Rai Mahimapat Ray, accusing him of owning assets beyond known income during his tenure as Ranchi Deputy Commissioner. The ACB has sought details of land and vehicles registered in the names of Ray, his wife, mother and children. The case is based on an Income Tax report, and investigation is now underway.

India Drafted Strict SOP to Penalise and Scrap Rs.97 Lakh Unfit Vehicles Polluting the Environment
Nearly Rs.97 lakh old and unfit vehicles continue to run on Indian roads despite a national scrappage policy, with only three lakh scrapped so far. The Union Road Transport Ministry has now prepared a fresh SOP proposing fines, seizure and forced scrapping through real-time tracking, ANPR cameras, and digital notices. Implementation now depends on state governments, whose lax enforcement has stalled earlier efforts.
Truck Owners to Organize Key Meeting on 9th November Over New Mines Adjustment Issue
The Lohardaga-Chandwa Truck Owners Association held a meeting to discuss problems faced by truck operators working in Jalim Mines. Members demanded that existing trucks be properly adjusted in the new mines opening soon. The issue has been raised with the local MP, who discussed it with Hindalco officials. A general meeting of all concerned truck owners will be held on 9 November to decide the next steps.
