Jharkhand Cleared 66 Road and 6 Bridges Projects
The Jharkhand Road Construction Department has approved 66 road projects and six bridge projects for 2025-26, with major works planned in Ranchi, Sahibganj, Daltonganj, Latehar, Dhanbad, Giridih, Chaibasa and Simdega. Ranchi gets the biggest project, a Rs. 301 crore road from Vivekananda School to Ring Road. Bridges will come up in Hazaribag, Dhanbad, Manoharpur, Sahibganj and Deoghar, including a high-level Rs. 38 crore bridge over the Koel river.
Jharkhand to Study Other States’ Models for Eco-Friendly Mining and Transport
The Jharkhand government will send a team of officials from the Forest, Pollution Control, and Mining departments to study how other states balance mining and environmental protection. The focus will be on adopting conveyor belts instead of trucks for mineral transport, protecting elephant corridors in Saranda and Hazaribagh, and ensuring that local villagers’ views are considered before clearing new mining projects to prevent unnecessary displacement.
PVUNL’s Second Unit to Start Power Generation from March 2026, Says CEO
PVUNL CEO A.K. Sehgal announced that 80% work on the second unit of the 4000 MW Patratu power plant is complete and it will start operating by March 2026. He said the project will make Jharkhand self-reliant in power. Around Rs. 700 crore is being spent on advanced ash-handling technology, with disposal planned through rail, road and modern systems to reduce pollution and improve efficiency.
NTPC Pakri Barwadih Dispatches 2000th Coal Rake Through Rapid Loading System
NTPC Mining Limited’s Pakri Barwadih coal project in Hazaribagh dispatched its 2000th coal rake on 7th November, flagged off by General Manager Pawan Kumar Rawat. He said achieving this milestone within a year through the Rapid Loading System shows high operational efficiency. So far, 1,662 rakes have been sent using the automated facility, which has significantly sped up coal transportation.
Public Hearing Held for Coal Washery Project in Balumath, Villagers Demand Jobs and Basic Facilities
A public hearing was held at Chetag Panchayat, Balumath, for environmental clearance of a 2.48 MTPA coal washery proposed by Omkar Coal Washery Pvt. Ltd. Villagers supported the project but demanded assured jobs, schools, healthcare, water, road repairs and written guarantees against displacement. The company said 75 people will get direct jobs and 150–200 indirect jobs, along with tree plantation and regular pollution monitoring.
Social Audit Team Attacked in Hazaribagh’s Barkagaon, Complaint Filed Against Miscreants
A social audit team was attacked in Mahugaikala panchayat of Barkagaon, Hazaribagh, when they were reviewing government schemes. Team members alleged that two men, Deepak Singh and Gudan Singh, snatched and tried to tear audit documents, misbehaved with a woman auditor, and attempted to assault them with an iron pipe. A written complaint has been filed with the BDO and Deputy Commissioner, seeking strict action.

At a Jharkhand Chamber GST subcommittee meeting, members said the State’s royalty rates are nearly double those in neighbouring states, increasing industrial costs. Sudden Fire from Abandoned Coal Mine Sparks Panic in Dhanbad
Panic spread in Katras after fire and gas suddenly started escaping from the long-abandoned 8 and 9 number pits of Chaitudih colliery. BCCL officials rushed in with machines and sealed the mine mouth within two hours. Local residents, already living in an unsafe zone, protested and demanded rehabilitation. Police and CISF cleared the area. Officials suspect illegal mining triggered the underground fire.
TSPC Threat Brings Coal Transport to a Halt in Khalari Despite Heavy Police Security
Coal transportation under road sale came to a standstill in Khalari after the banned extremist group TSPC issued threats to coal traders and weighbridge staff. Though police strengthened security at all weighbridges and senior officers monitored the situation, traders refused to resume work due to fear. DSP Ramnarayan Chaudhary urged them to continue operations, assuring full protection. The area has faced similar shutdowns earlier following extremist intimidation.
Doctors Quit Within a Year of Posting in Coalfield Hospitals, Says Coal India Management
At a meeting of the Coal India Welfare Board in Durgapur, trade unions raised issues of poor hospital services, water supply and damaged quarters in coal areas. Management said Coal India and its subsidiaries currently have 1100 doctors, but most resign within a year after being posted in coalfield regions. The company plans phased demolition of 40-year-old quarters and is also working on a sports cadre with career growth options.
High Court Summoned Road Construction Secretary for Not Implementing Promotion Order
The Jharkhand High Court has summoned the Secretary of the Road Construction Department on 21st November for not fully complying with its earlier order on pay and promotion. The court said merely granting promotion is not enough, employees must also receive the revised pay scale from the same date as their juniors. The case was filed by Vikram Mandal and others, who alleged contempt of court.
Jharkhand High Court Ends Mandatory LPC for Land Registration
The Jharkhand High Court has struck down the 2016 state orders that made Land Possession Certificate (LPC) compulsory for land registration. Calling the rule illegal, the court said it was based on Section 22A of the Registration Act, which has already been declared unconstitutional. Court Orders Trial Against Officers Who Gave Clean Chit in Rs. 50 Lakh Embezzlement Case
A Hazaribagh court has ordered legal action against the then investigating officer Amit Kumar and SDPO Kuldeep Kumar for filing a “no clue” report that cleared former MLA Amba Prasad and others in a Rs. 50 lakh embezzlement case linked to Karnpura College. The complaint, filed in 2021, alleges misuse of power, fake governing body meeting and conspiracy. The court has now admitted the protest petition and taken cognisance.
ACB Registers Inquiry Against Inspector Ganesh Singh for Alleged Illegal Collections
The Anti-Corruption Bureau has filed an Initial Report (IR) against Inspector Ganesh Singh, former in-charge of the confidential wing under ex-DGP Anurag Gupta, for allegedly collecting illegal money in return for clearing police files. He is also accused of extorting coal traders in Dhanbad and amassing disproportionate assets. After IR verification, ACB may seek government approval to start a formal preliminary inquiry.
Section 144 Imposed Ahead of Ghatshila Bypoll
To ensure a peaceful and fair Ghatshila Assembly bypoll on 11 November, the East Singhbhum administration will enforce prohibitory orders from 5 pm on 9th November. Processions, rallies, loudspeakers, and crowd gatherings are banned, while hotels and lodges will be checked for outsiders. IPC and Representation of People Act will apply for violations. Roadshows by JMM and BJP leaders are scheduled before restrictions begin.
Only 4 of 7 Ranchi MLAs Have Used Development Funds
Each MLA in Ranchi district gets Rs. 5 crore annually for local development, but only four have recommended projects so far, utilising around 60% of the funds. Kanke MLA Suresh Bedia tops the list with 97 proposals worth Rs. 3.97 crore. However, Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey, Ranchi MLA C.P. Singh and Silli MLA Amit Kumar have not submitted any recommendations yet, leaving many rural roads, drains and bridges in poor condition.
