The Jharkhand High Court has given the State Government a final chance to respond in the Painam Coal Mines illegal mining case. The petition alleges the company mined more minerals than allowed. If the Government fails to provide a satisfactory answer, the court will issue its ruling. The hearing is scheduled on 19th Feb.
The Jharkhand High Court has imposed a Rs. 50,000 fine on former Sahibganj DC Ram Niwas Yadav for unlawfully canceling the mining lease of Prakash Yadav’s company, ‘Hill Movement.’ Yadav challenged the decision, claiming the DC had no authority to cancel the lease and was not given a chance to present his case.

Narendra Kumar and Anirban Aich have been appointed as Personal Secretaries to Jharkhand Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore. Narendra has been appointed from the Government quota, while Anirban, a State Tax Officer from Dhanbad, was appointed from the external quota. Both appointments are term-based.
Despite continuous efforts to boost revenue, the State Government faces a significant challenge in meeting its revenue target of Rs. 49,700 Crores. By January 2025, only Rs. 30,374 crore was collected, 61.11% of the goal. With just two months remaining, a 38.89% increase is needed to meet the target. Financial constraints threaten the completion of key development projects.
