The process to merge over 15 labour laws in Jharkhand into just four rule books has slowed considerably. The move, modelled on the Centre’s decision to consolidate 29 central labour laws into four labour codes, was initiated by the state’s Labour and Employment Department. As per officials, the Labour Department had prepared the proposal and sent it to the Law Department for approval. However, the Law Department returned the file with certain objections.
