The Comptroller and Auditor General’s (CAG) report tabled in the Jharkhand Assembly on 25th August 2025, revealed that several departments of the State Government failed to utilize nearly a quarter of their allocated funds in 2023-24. Of the total budget provision of Rs. 1,41,498.79 crores, only Rs. 1,08,754.44 crores was spent, leaving 23.14% unutilized. Coal India Limited has rolled out a set of welfare measures for its contract workforce employed in subsidiaries Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) and Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL). The decision, taken in a recent board meeting, is expected to benefit around 13,600 workers including 4600 in BCCL and 9000 in ECL. The revival of the long closed Loyabad coal mine in Dhanbad’s Sijua Area has been stalled after Vensar Construction Company Ltd. withdrew from its mining contract with Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL).
