Jharkhand to Collect Service Charges from Central Institutions
For the first time, Jharkhand will collect service charges from all central public sector units and institutions using municipal services. The Urban Development Department has directed 49 urban local bodies to prepare a list by July 15 and complete assessments by September 30. This move, based on a Supreme Court ruling, aims to boost state revenue without levying property tax.
Despite Surplus Power, Jharkhand Struggles with Blackouts
Jharkhand produces 8,723 MW of power but needs only 2,500–3,000 MW. Still, power cuts persist, especially in rural areas, due to a weak, outdated distribution network. Overhead lines, aged transformers, and lack of infrastructure upgrades cause outages during heat or rain. Only 57 of 116 needed grid substations are operational, leaving the state’s energy potential untapped.
Raghubar Dasa Urged Implementation of PESA Law
At a public meeting in Simaljodi village, former Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das emphasized the urgent need to implement the PESA law in tribal-dominated areas. He stated that strengthening Gram Sabhas through PESA is vital for tribal development and survival. He urged tribals to raise their voices and wisely exercise their voting rights to protect their rights and identity.
Jharkhand Chamber Delegation to Visit Vietnam for Business Talks
From 24th to 30th June, a 21-member Jharkhand Chamber delegation representing sectors like textile, tourism, food, and automobile will visit Vietnam. The group will meet officials from the Indian Embassy, Indian Business Chamber in Vietnam, and local Vietnamese trade bodies. The trip, flagged off by Industry Minister Sanjay Prasad Yadav, aims to boost trade and investment ties.
More Jharkhand IAS Officers Eye Central Deputation
Three Jharkhand cadre IAS officers—R Ronita, Akanksha Ranjan, and Mukesh Kumar have applied for central deputation, joining 14 already serving centrally. With 54 IAS posts currently vacant out of 224, the state faces a staffing crunch. Several officers are also registering for mid-career training, while ten senior officials are set to retire by the end of 2025.

Five officers of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) were transferred: Bimal Kumar moved to Ashoka West as Project Officer; Kamlesh Kumar shifted from Hazaribagh to Kuju Area as Senior Officer; Viresh Kumar called to headquarters; Digvijay Narayan Singh appointed Senior Officer (P\&P) in Kuju; Rajesh Kumar Singh transferred to Hazaribagh’s KBP Area as Manager.
CCL Plans to Boost Coal Output with Two New Mines
Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) plans to start production from two new coal mines this fiscal year, increasing capacity by 10-12 million tons annually. The Kotare Basantpur block aims to produce 5 million tons by October, while the Chandragupt open-cast project targets March 2026. CCL aims to exceed 15 crore tons by 2030, focusing on expanding existing mines and new projects.
CID to File FIR in Job Scam in Coal Projects
A major scam has surfaced in Chatra and Hazaribagh coal projects, where jobs meant for land acquisition beneficiaries were fraudulently claimed using fake documents. CID’s preliminary probe, submitted to the DGP, implicates CCL officers and revenue staff. An FIR will be filed, exposing a racket that forged land records to secure compensation and jobs illegally.
Gold Bars Recovered in CBI Raids in Jamshedpur
In a massive Rs.. 800 crore fake export scam, the CBI raided seven locations, including Jamshedpur, seizing seven gold bars from CGST Additional Commissioner Ranvijay Kumar’s home. The scam involved 23 fake firms falsely exporting tiles and auto parts to Nepal to evade Rs. 100 crore in GST. FIRs were filed against Kumar, five customs officers, and 29 others.
Uranium Production Halts at UCIL, Rs. 3 Crore Daily Loss
UCIL’s uranium peroxide production in Jadugora has completely stopped after displaced families from Chhatikocha opened a tailing pond pipeline, protesting 30 years of unresolved rehabilitation. The shutdown has caused ₹3 crore daily losses and left 700 workers idle. A district-level meeting is scheduled for June 28, but displaced families are excluded, deepening the deadlock.
