Coal Companies Filling Old Mines, Bringing Back Green Cover
On Coal Ministry’s orders, coal companies are now filling up old open-cast mines to restore land. Under CMPDI’s watch, 6 CCL mines, including Ashoka and Konar, are being revived. So far, 9.59 sq km has been reclaimed – with technical filling and tree plantation. Ashoka’s 78% and Konar’s 66% mined areas have already been restored to near-original condition.
Tata Tops, Adani Zoomed in Indian Brands Value
According to Brand Finance’s latest 2025 ranking, Tata Group remains India’s most valuable brand with a 10% rise to $31.6 billion. Infosys holds second place. Adani Group emerged as the fastest-growing Indian brand, jumping from 16th to 13th place with an 82% rise in brand value. JSW Paints Brought Dulux Paints
Sajjan Jindal’s JSW Paints has bought 74.7% stake in Akzo Nobel India, the maker of Dulux paints, for around Rs. 9,400 crore. With this major move, JSW Paints will become the fourth-largest player in India’s highly competitive Rs. 90,000 crore paint market. This deal marks a big step in expanding JSW’s presence in the decorative paints segment.
Geo-Tagging Turns Land Mutation into Headache for Jharkhand
Jharkhand’s new geo-tagging system for land mutation aimed at transparency is causing major delays. Poor training, weak internet, lack of staff and no travel allowance have left files stuck and villagers helpless. Field officials struggle to visit villages, click photos, and upload GPS data. Thousands of cases are pending, with people roaming offices and officials demanding proper resources for smooth functioning.
Jharia Rehabilitation to Begin on War Footing
After approval of the revised Jharia Master Plan, Additional Coal Secretary Rupinder Brar directed BCCL and JRDA to start rehabilitation work urgently. In a review meeting with top officials, it was stressed that any delay would invite action. Formal approval letter is expected within 10 days, after which displaced families will start getting resettled. A detailed meeting is planned soon.
BCCL Given Jobs to 127 Dependents in Special Camp
BCCL on Friday handed appointment letters to 127 dependents under Anukampa Camp 4.0. Since January 2025, BCCL has given 349 such jobs this year. In 2023 and 2024, it gave 346 and 474 jobs respectively. CMD Samiran Dutta welcomed new employees, calling the occasion special as the nation celebrates the holy Rath Yatra festival.
Jharkhand & Vietnam Can Partner in Mineral Industries
A 21-member Jharkhand Chamber delegation, led by President Paresh Gattani, met Indian Ambassador Sandeep Arya in Vietnam. Illegal Extortion of Lakhs Every Day at Amrapali Project
At the Amrapali coal project in Tandwa, Chatra, a fake vehicle owners’ association is extorting 2-3 lakh rupees daily. Trucks without payment are not given coal loading slips. Truck owners have filed written complaints with the authorities, but no action has been taken. MLA Ujjwal Das assured them of appropriate action if the issue isn’t resolved by the administration.

CCL Officials Involved in Illegal Coal Lifting and Transport
CBI’s preliminary investigation has revealed that officials from CCL’s Giddi C Colliery allowed illegal coal lifting and transport for personal gain, involving large financial transactions. The CBI has filed an FIR against eight individuals, including CCL staff and private persons. The investigation found evidence of bribery, with officials receiving significant amounts for facilitating illegal activities.
