The Ramgarh Court on 25th August 2025 reserved its order on the Anti-Terrorism Squad’s (ATS) request to take custody of international gangster Mayank Singh alias Sunil Kumar Meena, who was extradited from Azerbaijan and brought to Ranchi on 23rd August 2025. Meena, accused in more than 40 criminal cases across Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, was produced before the additional district judge after his arrival. He was transported to Ramgarh by an anti land mine vehicle in a high security.
Multiple Criminal Charges Across States
Meena has cases of murder, attempt to murder, and extortion registered against him in Ranchi, Giridih, Ramgarh, Palamu, and Hazaribagh districts. The current extradition was based on a case registered at Patratu police station in Ramgarh district (Case No. 175/22). Investigators said he was actively involved in threatening businessmen, coal transporters, and railway contractors for extortion money while staying abroad. The ATS now seeks his remand for questioning, including his reported association with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Chhattisgarh ATS Also Preparing for Custody
Sources confirmed that Chhattisgarh ATS is preparing to bring him to Raipur in connection with the July 2024 firing at the office of PRA Group in Telibandha. Police records suggest Meena had joined hands with the late gangster Aman Sahu’s network to extort money from contractors and businessmen in Raipur. Meena, originally from Rajasthan, allegedly coordinated criminal activities across several states while operating from foreign countries.

Jharkhand ATS Pursuing Another Fugitive
Meanwhile, Jharkhand ATS is also pursuing another accused, Prince Khan, who is allegedly making extortion calls from abroad. Officials refrained from naming his current location, citing frequent movement, but confirmed that a Red Corner Notice against him was already in place. The arrest of Meena, investigators believe, could provide leads on Khan’s operations and help dismantle the wider extortion network spanning Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, and other states.
