A meeting of BJP’s Govindpur Mandal Organised at Yashoda Nagar Basti on 31st August 2025. Locals complained and criticized that despite years of operations, the Nuvoco Cement Company had failed to address basic issues in health, sanitation and education under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitments.
Residents Raised Health and Sanitation Concerns
Villagers alleged that Nuvoco Cement neither carried out mosquito eradication drives nor supplied bleaching powder in the surrounding areas. They further said that polluted water and dust emissions from the plant were causing health problems in the settlements. Concerns over waterlogging and rising mosquito menace were also raised during the meeting.

BJP Leaders Supported Residents’ Demands
BJP district vice-president Babua Singh and general secretary Sanjeev Singh said the company must immediately begin welfare works in the nearby bastis under CSR. Mandal vice-president Arjun Kumar alleged that even telephone communication with the plant had been cut off. Mandal president Pawan Singh warned that if local interests continued to be ignored, BJP along with residents would organise processions and block the plant’s gates.

The meeting attended by a large number of villagers, resolved to hold Nuvoco Cement accountable for the alleged neglect. Leaders said that if corrective action was not taken soon, the basti residents would enforce an indefinite gate blockade at the company premises.
