The Chhattisgarh Government has appointed 2006 batch Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Raju Agasimani as the Member Secretary of the Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board (CECB). His appointment follows the resignation of Arun Prasad in June and takes effect immediately, as per the official order issued.
Agasimani, who was serving as Chief Conservator of Forests (Raipur Circle and Working Plan Division), brings with him significant experience in forest management, ecological planning, and conservation. The Member Secretary’s post is considered central to environmental governance in the state, responsible for monitoring industrial compliance, regulating pollution, and advancing ecological safeguards in a region known for both dense forests and mineral resources.
A Background in Forestry and Community Initiatives
Born on June 1, 1978, in Karnataka, Agasimani has dedicated his career to sustainable forestry and livelihood generation. His work in Dhamtari Forest Division is particularly remembered for community-based livelihood projects and forest entrepreneurship models, including his engagement with Van Dhan Vikas Kendras that promote tribal self-reliance through forest produce. He has also participated in national-level exposure visits on soil and moisture conservation practices.
